Readout tests on the SO camera, SAT-1

SAT-1 Testing Progress Continues

Currently a prototype readout circuit is installed in SAT-1 which allows us to examine some of the properties of the device. Part of the device is a chip containing a series of resonators made from superconducting niobium which is cooled to below 1 Kelvin. We expect the inductance of the resonator circuit to change as a function of temperature which in turn should shift the resonance frequency. Sure enough, the plot of transmission vs temperature below shows a detailed view of a single resonator with frequency shifting as the temperature is stepped from 0.1 K up to 0.45 K! -From Nicholas Galitzki
